A couple, a kid, and me...

"Every new friend is a new adventure...the start of of more memories"

This week was once again a short work week with Friday being Hangul Day.  Hangul day is a holiday celebrating the Korean alphabet.  So to "celebrate" I went to Changdeokgung Palace with one of my co-workers Beth, her boyfriend Reggie, and his son Yujin.  It was so nice to do something with other people.  Wow, that sounded kind of pathetic.  Anyway back to the palace.

Changdeokgang Palace was built in 1405 by King Teajong.

At any historical site or for any national holiday children and especially teenage girls will wear the traditional clothing or Hanbok.  Its too bad that Americans do not have a culture old enough to have cute traditional dresses.

I could not stop taking pictures of the ceilings and roof lines.

This is apparently the throne room? And in my opinion a very gaudy throne.  There were not any signs around the palace and unlike visiting a palace in Europe rooms are not easily recognizable for me.

why don't we paint things like this anymore?

Each building was a large open space.  Partitions are hung on the ceiling until the room needs to be divided.  Its weird not to see furniture in the rooms or things like dining rooms and ballrooms.
After finishing the palace tour we walked through a nice shopping area of Seoul.  Yujin was very excited to show me the poop cafe, complete with toilets for planters and giant poop pillows.

And then we got to eat poop, otherwise known as chocolate chip pancakes in the shape of poop.  Because, why not?

Who knew poop would taste so good?

I tried to take a picture of my four favorite students unfortunately they did not really cooperate.
This is my classroom.  Look at that fancy butterfly wallpaper.  I have a max of five students in my class, but most of my classes are 1-3 students.  So my job is less like teaching and more like tutoring.
If the kids do their homework and behave they can get 2 stamps per day.  I am really bad at remembering to give stamps.
One of my little students, David, can barely write.  Yet somehow he knows the word pachycephalosaurus.  I don't actually know enough about dinosaurs to know if that is actually a kind of dinosaur.

Also apparently before Scott Disick became famous through the Kardashians he was a model for textbooks.

Last weekend I was finally able to get a bank account, cell phone, and internet.  It is so nice to once again be connected and able to feel normal again.  Now I don't think I have any more time off until Christmas so until then I will probably spend more time just settling in and getting into a routine.
